1. Always have an anti-virus program installed on your computer. Two of the most popular are Symantec/Norton and McAfee. Virus definitions must be kept up-to-date by downloading from the company's site. These definitions should be downloaded at least weekly.
2. If you receive an e-mail instructing you to delete files, telling you you will get money for forwarding it to your friends, etc., it is most likely a hoax. If a specific company is indicated, check that company's web site. Also, does the company produce the product indicated, for example, Hershey's Chocolate does not produce the Clark Bar. 3. If you receive an e-mail from someone that you do not recognize, it is probably best to delete the e-mail. Many viruses are sent via e-mail and infect your computer when you open the message or the attachment. Again, check the list in #2, typing in the subject line from the e-mail in question.
