News of Our Missionary Teacher Annie Bunio

Annie arrived in Arusha, Tanzania in early October 2011. Now she is on her way to Musoma where she will visit the Mara Diocese Headquarters. Then soon to Kiabakari to meet the staff and see the school where she will teach.

Annie is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota where she major in African Studies with a specialization in conflict resolution.  During her college years, she volunteered for three months at an orphanage in Rwanda.She is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka, Minnesota.

It was our joy on September 18, 2011 at Salem to witness Annie's Commissioning as a Missionary Teacher sent by the Delaware-Maryland Synod to teach at the Kiabakari Bible School in the Mara Diocese, our companion synod in Tanzania. Salem has contributed $25,000 through our Investment for Mission Project in support of this two-year ministry.

Several of Salem's members serve on the synod's Tanzania Task Force: Jennifer Meyers, Tim Medicus, Brenda Kimaro, and Pastor Ed and Vicky Whetstone. You can always ask any of them for more information about this venture.

In January there will be a delegation from our synod traveling to the Mara Diocese, including Steve and Sally Kopp. If you might be interested in going too, see Steve or Sally or any of Salem's members on the task force as soon as possible.
